Lipids and Arteriosclerosis Research Unit (URLA)
Since 1985, the URLA basic science laboratories have been dedicated to the investigation of lipid mtabolism, the mechanisms implicated in arteriosclerosis, their clinical manifestations (cardiovascular disease) and its risk factors in general. In 2008, the unit became a member of CIBERDEM (ISCII),which focuses particularly on diabetes and its associated aspects. The laboratories carry out research in the field of basic biomedicine to a very high level of excellence, thus improving the care of patients with arteriosclerosis or their risk of developing it.
Location
The basic research laboratories at the URLA are located on the ground floor of the Medical Faculty in Reus and comprise :
- Laboratory 1 : genetics and molecular biology.
- Laboratory 2: biochemistry.
- Room 1: refridgeration.
- Room 2: store.
- Culture laboratory.
- Chemical extraction laboratory.
Techniques
Staff in the URLA laboratories work according to ISO 9001 quality control.
