The Pere Virgili Institute (IISPV) is a collaborative initiative to foster scientific excellence in health at the Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre regions in Southern Catalonia.
The IISPV was founded in 2005 as an umbrella organisation that includes 3 hospitals from the Institut Català de la Salut (Hospital Universitari de Tarragona Joan XXIII, Hospital de Tortosa Verge de la Cinta), the Hospital Universitari Sant Joan de Reus, the mental health Pere Mata Institute and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili.
Mission:
The mission of the IISPV is to manage efficiently the resources and expertise across organisations to support our health professional community in improving the health and well-being of patients and citizens, particularly from the Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre regions.
Vision:
The IISPV thrives to be a national and international reference centre for biomedical research with a clear translational impact and to be at the service of its community.
