Misions
The group's main objective is to study the various aspects of antimicrobial resistance in bacterial species most prevalent in human infectious disease in our geographical area, particularly in Enterobacteriaceae, with a special interest in the role of integrons in co-selection and dissemination of antibiotic resistance. The molecular-level understanding of the mechanisms involved in resistance to antimicrobial resistance gene vectors and epidemiology contribute to providing useful information when designing rational antibiotic policies and strategies aimed at controlling the serious problem of bacterial resistance to antibiotics.
Moreover, the group is also interested in strategies and lab techniques for screening inherently or potentially pathogenic bacteria to prevent its spread to susceptible hosts and nosocomial infections.
