Histological, pathological and digitisation Platform

This is a transversal and support research platform for histological and cytological studies. It facilitates immunohistochemical, immunocytochemical, immunofluorescence, in situ and molecular hybridization studies undertaken by staff at IISPV.
It also offers the possibility of digitalisation of microscopic digital images and of image analysis studies.

Services:

1. Advice on biological collection methods, on sample preparation and on different processes of preservation.
2. Management of biological samples with pre-analytical processing of cytological materials and with macro and microscopic photographs of histological specimens, biopsies and cytological samples.
3. Preparation of paraffin blocks from the samples received and manufacture of multi-tissue matrices (tissue-arrays)
4. Classical stains (e.x. HE, Papanicolaou, rapid staining) and special stains (e.x. histochemical, immunohistochemical, immunocytochemical, immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization and molecular studies)
5. Digitalisation of slides, labeling and storage of scanned images
6. Analysis of images
7. Creation of databases
