Organitza: One of the main pillars of the ESF ConGenomics networking programme is to organise and/or support the organisation of scientific meetings and workshops. In 2013, a call will be announced for the organisation of a scientific meeting or workshop within the field of conservation genomics. The scientific meeting or workshop should primarily focus at PhD students and postdocs who have some background knowledge in genetics and conservation biology, and who show a strong interest in learning more about topics specifically related to the application of genomic techniques in conservation biology. The workshop can include oral sessions with invited and registered participants, plenary discussions and poster presentation sessions. We invite proposals for organising a scientific meeting or workshop in 2013. The meeting will have to be on topics within the scope of ConGenOmics, which include: - development and transfer of genomic knowledge and approaches in a conservation context - experimental study of the (genomic) mechanisms behind important biological processes of relevance for conservation - application and development of data handling and processing strategies in conservation genomics - application of community and metagenomics in conservation biological context The meeting should have a European dimension. A maximum of Euro 25000 is available for organization. Please carefully read the ESF guidelines for organising science meetings.

Organitza: El objetivo de esta convocatoria es examinar el valor comparativo de la radioterapia. ROI, ASTRO, NCI y OIM pretenden generar evidencias para demostrar el valor de las tecnologías e intervenciones de radiación en oncología. Abarca aspectos tanto de la eficacia comparativa como de coste, pero puede ser definido para incluir enfoques innovadores para la evaluación de los beneficios y los daños de las intervenciones de radioterapia oncológica en general. ROI apoya los estudios que examinan el valor comparativo de la radioterapia porque estos estudios tienen el potencial de generar la evidencia necesaria para mejorar los resultados del cáncer mientras que disminuye el crecimiento del gasto sanitario. Todos los investigadores que reciban fondos deben presentar un informe final en el retorno de la inversión al final del periodo de financiación. Los investigadores también pueden ser solicitados para presentar sus resultados en reuniones de investigación en ASTRO o ROI. Los investigadores deben reconocer el apoyo ROI en todas las publicaciones y productos del proyecto y enviar una copia de todos los productos a ROI.

Organitza: Call for Cancer Projects- Reliable Cancer Therapies (RCT) announces € 300 000 for projects repurposing existing drugs for cancer treatment. The drugs must have been developed and approved for other indication(s). Relevant clinical trial endpoints (cancer survival & tumor response) should be the primary research assessments. RCT also promotes collaborative research projects between researchers at different universities and/or organisations.

Organitza: Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (EIP)-The objective of this call for proposals is to accelerate the take-up of design in innovation policies at European, national and regional levels and to promote the increased use of design in European industry as well as in the public sector to promote value creation, competitiveness and efficient use of resource. In particular, emphasis is put on closing the divide between the advanced regions and those lagging behind in applying design-driven innovation. This call for proposals invites applicants to plan and implement a coherent set of actions to boost the adoption of design in innovation policies and to support the creation of capacity and competencies necessary to deliver these policies

Organitza: The objective of the EFSD/JDS Research Fellowships is to encourage collaborative research in the field of diabetes. Applications for Fellowships to carry out a scientific project will be accepted from both applicants working in Japan to travel to Europe or its associated countries and also from applicants working in Europe or its associated countries to travel to Japan. The host institution must be a recognised research institution and applicants should have demonstrated their ability in the field of diabetes research. Up to four Fellowships will be awarded, each in the sum of Euro 50,000 (fifty thousand). The money awarded will be paid into the account of the recipients’ home institution. The scientific project will be three to twelve month in length with some extra time allowed to complete a language course. The budget may include items such as: salaries, travel, sustenance and consumables. The recipients must start the fellowship within 6 months of notification.
