Organitza: MINECO- Ayudas para contratos predoctorales para la formación de doctores 2013 Las ayudas tienen como objeto la formación de doctores mediante la financiación de contratos laborales, bajo la modalidad de contrato predoctoral, del personal investigador en formación en centros de I+D, que deseen realizar una tesis doctoral asociada a un proyecto de investigación financiado por el Subprograma de Proyectos de Investigación Fundamental no orientada, convocatoria 2012, del Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad. Los destinatarios de estas ayudas serán estudiantes que reúnan los requisitos para ser admitidos en un programa de doctorado en el curso 2013-2014 o que se encuentren en disposición de estar matriculado o admitido en un programa de doctorado, en el momento de la formalización del contrato. También podrán ser solicitantes los estudiantes que, en el curso 2012-2013, hayan realizado estudios universitarios oficiales españoles de Licenciado, Ingeniero o Arquitecto. Las ayudas tendrán una duración de cuatro años, y comenzarán a contar su plazo desde la fecha de incorporación del investigador a su puesto de trabajo en el centro de I+D contratante. Estas ayudas se destinarán necesariamente a cofinanciar el salario y la cuota empresarial de la Seguridad Social de los investigadores contratados durante cada una de las anualidades, consideradas independientemente. Complementariamente a la ayuda para la contratación, se concederá una ayuda adicional por cada investigador contratado para financiar los gastos de matrícula en las enseñanzas de doctorado durante la vigencia de la ayuda para la contratación.

Organitza: World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) International’s Regular Grant Programme funds research on the effects of food, nutrition, physical activity and body fatness on cancer. This application pack outlines the programme’s research priorities and principles, and gives applicants an understanding of the submission and review process. More details: a. Elegibility: 1.IIFs are open to a principal investigator (PI) from a research institutions from anywhere in the workd, except from the Americas (North, Central, Caribbean and South America). 2.The PI must hold an established research position (not a PhD Student) at the host institution for the duration of the project. 3. Only one application per PI per grant cycle is permitted. 4. Only one person can act as the PI, through an applicant can be a PI for one application and a co-applicant in one or more other applications. 5. The PI's salary is not elegible to be covered by the grant (wholly or partly). b. Budget: IIGs are awarded for a maxium of 250,000£ for up to four years, with a limit of £75,000 for any one year. Budges should cover the cost of such items as salaries for personnel (excluding the PI), research equipment, expendable supplies and travel to conferences, meetings. -A maximum of 10% for overheads of the institutions if required. c. Research Priorities: 1. The role of food, nutrition, body fatness and physical activity in relation to cancer. 2. Life course exposures in relation to cancer. 3. Molecular/genetic research (this category covers both epidemiology and laboratory based work, but please note these types of applications must propose an exposure relevant to diet, nutrition, body fatness and/or physical activity). 5. Methodological Research: Successful applications in this category will usually embed the methodological study in an existing exploration of nutrition and cancer. 6. Cancer survivors research: The addition of a nutrition component to an existing epidemiological, intervention or clinical study on cancer survivors is encouraged.

Organitza: Postdoctoral Fellowship Grants – Basic and Translational (PDF-Basic and Translational) seek to attract and support promising scientists who are embarking on careers dedicated to breast cancer research. By providing funding to outstanding postdoctoral/postgraduate fellows under the guidance of a mentor, Komen seeks to ensure that a diverse pool of highly trained scientists will emerge as the next generation of leaders in the field of breast cancer research. These leaders will play key roles in reducing breast cancer incidence and mortality, with the ultimate goal of ending breast cancer forever. PDF-Basic and Translational Research Grants provide support for basic research projects that have significant potential to advance our understanding of breast cancer, lead to reductions in breast cancer incidence and/or mortality, and move us toward the goal of a world without breast cancer. Studies focusing on quality of life or survivorship issues are not appropriate for this mechanism. This award mechanism is appropriate for both basic (i.e. PhD) or clinical (i.e. MD) fellows proposing research projects that are laboratory- or field- based and do not meet Komen’s definition of clinical research. A clinical trial or study in conjunction with a clinician is acceptable as a part of the proposed laboratory research focus. a. Elegibility: Applicant must have a doctoral degree, including MD, PhD, DrPH, DO or equivalent. By the date of full application submission, the fellow must be no more than 3 years post-completion of his/her most recent clinical fellowhisp or 5 years post.completion of his/her most recent residency or 5 years post-completion of his/her most recent PhD, verified by the Letter of Support from Mentor. b. Organitza: Dame Sheila Sherlock EASL Fellowship Programme- Open to all registered EASL members, aiming to enhance the mobility of investigators within different European institutions through actively promoting scientific exchange among research units in Hepatology. EASL offers a total yearly grant of 24,000€ (12 x 2,000€ per month). This amount is divided between the total number of successful awardees, according to the length of fellowships requested by the applicants. The maximum length of each fellowship must not exceed 3 months. EASL offers two periods for short-term fellowship applications during the year.

Organitza: Beneficiarios Centros de I+D de adscripción del personal investigador en formación de anteriores convocatorias de las ayudas para la formación de personal investigador, en el marco del Subprograma FPI, independientemente de la situación jurídica, beca o contrato, en la que se encuentre el personal investigador en formación Las ayudas tienen como objeto la financiación de estancias, por parte del personal investigador en formación, en Centros de I+D diferentes a los que estén adscritos con el fin de que dicho personal pueda realizar actividades beneficiosas para mejorar su formación así como impulsar el desarrollo de su tesis. Objetivos específicos y actividades que se financian Las estancias deberán asegurar un grado de movilidad e/o internacionalización a la que no se hubiera accedido por formación académica anterior o por otros factores tales como residencia o nacionalidad, y en ningún caso ocasionar un retraso en la finalización de los estudios de doctorado. Las ayudas se podrán solicitar para estancias en otros centros de I+D, públicos o privados, incluyendo empresas, extranjeros o españoles, siempre que los centros estén ubicados en una localidad distinta a la del centro en que se desarrolla la actividad. Las estancias tendrán una duración mínima de dos meses y máxima de cuatro meses, y se desarrollarán en un único periodo. Las estancias se realizarán dentro del año 2014. Podrán disfrutarse durante la fase de beca o la fase de contrato, excluyéndose los periodos no recuperables establecidos en las correspondientes convocatorias de aplicación. Las ayudas comprenderán dos conceptos: la ayuda para la estancia, destinada a gastos de alojamiento y manutención, y la ayuda para el viaje, destinada a gastos de locomoción.

Organitza: Annually, the Canon Foundation in Europe grants up to 15 Fellowships to highly qualified European and Japanese researchers. European nationals should have permanent citizenship in the country. The candidates hold a doctorate or at least a Master’s degree. They are eligible during the ten-year period following the successful completion of their PhD or MA degree. Extensions to the ten-year rule are possible in principle in case of exceptional circumstances which should be explained in the application and supporting documents are required. The European Fellowship holders pursue a period of research in Japan whereas the Japanese Fellows do their research at host institutions in Europe. The Fellowships are awarded for periods of minimum three months and maximum one year. The Fellowships are awarded regardless of discipline and existing employment positions.
