World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) International’s Regular Grant Programme funds research on the effects of food, nutrition, physical activity and body fatness on cancer. This application pack outlines the programme’s research priorities and principles, and gives applicants an understanding of the submission and review process. More details:
a. Elegibility:
1.IIFs are open to a principal investigator (PI) from a research institutions from anywhere in the workd, except from the Americas (North, Central, Caribbean and South America).
2.The PI must hold an established research position (not a PhD Student) at the host institution for the duration of the project.
3. Only one application per PI per grant cycle is permitted.
4. Only one person can act as the PI, through an applicant can be a PI for one application and a co-applicant in one or more other applications.
5. The PI's salary is not elegible to be covered by the grant (wholly or partly).
b. Budget: IIGs are awarded for a maxium of 250,000£ for up to four years, with a limit of £75,000 for any one year. Budges should cover the cost of such items as salaries for personnel (excluding the PI), research equipment, expendable supplies and travel to conferences, meetings. -A maximum of 10% for overheads of the institutions if required.
c. Research Priorities:
1. The role of food, nutrition, body fatness and physical activity in relation to cancer.
2. Life course exposures in relation to cancer.
3. Patterns of diet and physical activity in relation to cancer.
4. Molecular/genetic research (this category covers both epidemiology and laboratory based work, but please note these types of applications must propose an exposure relevant to diet, nutrition, body fatness and/or physical activity).
5. Methodological Research: Successful applications in this category will usually embed the methodological study in an existing exploration of nutrition and cancer.
6. Cancer survivors research: The addition of a nutrition component to an existing epidemiological, intervention or clinical study on cancer survivors is encouraged.
